Tractor Supply Red Pullets????

It would be nice to know what breeds the chicks are... but in the long run I really don't care. Just like I don't care what breeds my dogs really are (all of them are rescues)... as long as they are happy and healthy!

They're a hybrid chicken that is crossed with a Rhode island red and some other chickens.they're really good layers even during the winter I have 6 chickens 6 eggs a day.

I just got my first batch of chicks today from tsc. The local co-op had theirs labeled by breed, but someone had bought them out right before I got there
I thought it was annoying that TSC's weren't sorted, but my hubby and I were ready for chicks and these looked healthy, so we got three of the "assorted" pullets and three of the "red assorted" pullets. To be honest they all look alike to me!!
Does anyone have any tips on what to look for now or when they get older as to guessing breed? I'm really just curious; in the long run, if they're healthy and happy girls that lay, I'll be happy!

We have 14 pullets from TSC and 1 batam... like yours... ours are about 2 weeks old now... growing like weeds!!!! We aren't really sure of the breeds of ours either, but so far they are very friendly, smart, and funny! Healthy too. We're even starting to see differences in personalities... so very excited to see how they keep maturing! Good luck with your girls! They keep us so entertained and are alway so excited to see us!

I just got six chicks from tsc yesterday and they are pullets. But they are supposed to be some type if rir but they don't look like it to me. They have no red what so ever!

Picked up 4 today, both in bins labled red pullets but look totally different. Is the red pullet a RI mix and what do you think the yellow ones are?

Huh! Well, the Red Pullets should be layers, no meats or Cornish...

I'd say Golden Comets and Tetra-Tints.
Or maybe White Leghorns.

They are probably Tetra-Tints (a hybrid known for it's great feed to egg conversion)
A cross between a Rhode Island Red and a White Leghorn.
They lay tan-ish brown eggs, and are almost exclusive to Tractor Supply.

If they are Tetra-Tints, they may develop some red on their breasts as they get older, and random patches of black.

When I got mine, I had the hardest time figuring out what they were!

I have also bought some chicks from tractor supply and I bought 3 if the reddish kind and 3 of the yellow kind. I have done a lot of research and I figured out the reddish chicks are red stars but I still have not figured out the yellowish chicks. My chicks are now about to start laying eggs and are almost full grown and once the reddish chicks have grown you can clearly tell they have all the features of red stars and the almost full grown yellow ones are now white and kind of look like leghorns but I can't really figure it out.

Our yellow chicks from TSC are now white-ish in color... we have 1 have that is more of a pearl or ivory color *and some that have one or two of those 'off' colored feathers'... and i think they are Tetra Tints. Their eggs are not white but cream or even a v-e-r-y light brown. still very sweet chickens!

I ended up with 3 Golden Comets from the red pullet bin and 2 White Leghorns and one white Plymouth Rock from the pullet bin at TSC. They are a little over a year old now and so far have been great layers.
