Tractor Supply?

You guys are pretty hard on tsc, and are probably right. But have you noticed that the pool of quality workers is gettin ankle deep. people dont care about service the way the used to I should say the majority of people so if you find someone that does you should mention it and appreeciate it.

My TS is great, extremely friendly and overall they have enough knowledge to help most customers. Often times I have helped TS staff aid customers with questions that they may not know the answers to. The staff always gives my wife and me a very warm hello and good to see ya again. I can't give enough kudos to them.

I bought my chickens on an impulse buy.. so what? Its really nooone elses business.
And NO TSC does NOT need to do an interview on folks that want to buys chicks...
They DO give out chick care sheets when you buy them... what MORE do you expect from them? They are a business..period.
And what people do with the chicks they buy is none of TSC's business or problem...

I agree. It's like anything else. It's the BUYER'S job to do their own homework before buying chicks. What's next, we start interrogating candy buyers to make sure they aren't overeating? Or checking on gun buyers to make sure they didn't murder anyone with the gun they bought last month? It's their job to sell chicks, not monitor who buys them. As someone pointed out early on in the thread, that would be a major invasion of privacy.

Obviously I cringe to think about the idiots that go grab a chick to throw in an easter basket who have no intentions of caring for the poor thing long term, but the fact is, it's not TSC's job to determine customer's intentions.

X2 I put up a CL add taking all easter chicks. Then I either re-home them or care for them good until they lay or get eaten.

thank god someone is saying what I was thinking. dont we have enough stupid rules and regulations.. I like my chickens but i dont worship them

It is not TSC's responsibility to see that they go to a good home. THey sell the product, after that they are not responsible. Although it would be nice if they went to a good home it isn't TSC's problem. People can buy chickens anywhere, why blame TSC for bad owners? They can just buy from a hatchery or even locally. Heck a lot of us sell chicks and we sure as heck aint responsible for what the new owner does...

You dont have to have a license or interview with anyone to have a real human being...........
In spite of how much I love or have loved chickens all my life, they are still.......only chickens to me.
Too bad your TSC store is such a dump. I can say all that I have been in have been really nice. Trip down memory lane for me....I interviewed a very long time ago(four interviews with them actually) to become a store manager. Always wonder how much I would have loved that job had I gotten it(PS...I didnt get it because I had not finished my Masters in Agronomy).
WOW, I am so random sometimes...sorry.

I think what the OP was stating, from what I read, is the workers at thier TSC are not properly caring for the chicks they have in thier store. I would be upset also. I would call the corperate office and complain. If they threatened to throw me out, I would be calling the local humane society and the local news reporters and get thier butts on tv showing the mismanagement. That would straighten their hineys up.

I have also impulsed buyed at TSC and mistakenly got broilers. When I realized they were growing faster than my hatched chicks, I thought they were roostes until I discussed it with a girl at work who also had chickens. I traded them to her<she processed them> and she gave me a couple hens she didnt want.

I love my TSC. It says Frequent Customer on my name when I check out.

Yet here, one of the TS is excellent, very careful about selling chicks to people who know what they are getting into, no dead animals, no stink, heat is right, clean food and water, etc....

The mom/pop store is horrid. It stinks even walking into the parking lot. They have no clue on what birds they have. They sell CX as bantams. They either do not have a heat lamp on or it's on way too hot. Food is seldom in the tanks, water often is scummy. They have no limit on selling - vs TSC rule that you MUST buy 6 which limits impulse buying.

HOWEVER - why I will support TSC always - if TSC is bad for whatever reason, if the store doesn't care, I can go to corporate. They get enough complaints about a store, they do something. I can complain about the mom/pop store until I'm blue in the face, they don't care, the chicks are profit and profit only, and I can't go to anyone higher to fix the problem.
