What makes a fair trade? I have 6 barred rock hens, been great egg layers....they are just over a year old now. I have a friend who has 12 easter egger eggs in the incubator right now. She said she would trade me one easter egger chick for one of my barred rock layers. Doesn't seem to fair to me? How much would it cost to buy an Adult barred rock laying hen? I was thinking it would need several of the chicks to make up a good trade. But I've never traded so I don't have a clue really! What would you do?

I was thinking about just buying some easter eggers on my own and raising them on my own maybe next year or something.

Any of your advice or thoughts would be apprecaited!!!

An adult Barred Rock, non show quality would be around $10 here.

An easter egger chick is what... $1.00? Especially since they are not offering to sex those chicks for you...

Yea no not fair IMO. Come be my friend I would just give ya a EE or two or three

I have tons of EE's in my bator to bad your not in CA.

LOL, no way is that fair!

I'd trade for at least 3-4 babies for the one hen. More if the hen is SQ.

I guess it depends on if you really want green/blue eggs.I was ready to trade a ready to lay muscovey hen for 1 cuckoo maran pullet 3 weeks old cause I WANTED those chocolate eggs! and I probably wouldve traded 2 for 1.
