One of the third graders was killed in a shooting accident yesterday. Here is the story for any who might want more information. http://www.wfsb.com/news/17810051/detail.html
I'd
rather not see this turn into a discussion of whether or not he should have been allowed to shoot the gun if you don't mind. I'm just looking for prayers for the community where I work and his family. I didn't work with him more than a few times but I had his brother in class many times over the years, including last week. Thanks

I heard about this on the news. Sorry, this must be shocking for everyone who knows the family. My prayers are with you.

Hi! My prayers are with them already, I saw it on the news last night. It's just sooo sad. He had siblings also, I did not know that, I will keep them in my prayers as well.Chrissie

Oh God.

Don't know how I missed it last night. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the story went nationwide. It's just such a small little town. As far as I know he had the one older brother whom I had in class two days last week. Thanks for the prayers. This is hard.

Oh no.

I would not let my child handle a UZI, I guess its each parents choice.
My 9 year old has fired our little BB gun, with his dad right behind him helping him hold the gun and keep control. (he's only done it twice, and not used to handling anything like that)

It's hard, especially for a parent, not to get angry and ask why was a child
firing an automatic weapon. I'm pro gun and believe children should learn
how to handle them at a young age but a mini uzi seems a bit extreme to me.

I'm not going to read the news stations comments. Those are always nuts.
This is a tragedy, nothing more, nothing less.

This is such a tragedy. I really believe when it is your time to go, it's your time to go, but how sad this child was so young. Freak accident, really. Guns can do the same damage as a bow and arrow or a bus rolling down the road. PC, I too am pro-gun, and that is what it seems like this family was doing, teaching the child. HOW SAD!!!
