Hello, Solomon started dropping his train yesterday. 11 feathers the first day and 40 so far today. He's looking almost naked there on his tail and seems a bit out of sorts on how to get around. We have him in the barn still so I can collect the feathers easily. Am thinking of selling a few of them and keeping the rest.

I collected 116 in a few days time...with many more small ones out in the yard. I'd say less than half were the nice eye feathers, lots of sword feathers and then those very long ones with no eye.

Well, I've completely lost count of the number of feathers that have hit the dirt here.
There have been a lot, with more of the shorter ones still falling.
Personally, out of the eye feathers, I like these funny shaped ones:

These ones are particular favorites:

I've been wondering if this is only me, but does anyone else collect tiny feathers?
I have quite a collection of super-small blue feathers; I think they're face feathers.
For some reason I always seem to find them when I walk around outside.
I also have a number of crown feathers which are great - they are really springy!

Very cool! I hope you do get a male. I'm trying to figure out how to sell the feathers. Craigslist? Ebay? Farmer's market?

I love your feather collection! Great feathers and wonderful photos! I hope I can get a collection like yours, even the tiny blue ones!

Oh, hey I collect those really tiny feathers too! They come from the face area, generally the top of the head. I call them tick feathers because they are the size and shape of a tick. I have a tiny baggy of those. They shine so brightly on the ground that it just catches your eye. I try to collect the crest feathers also. I can never seem to find them that much though. I love it when I find one. The first feather in that picture is kinda like a sword feather with an eye on it. The second set of feathers are some of the back feathers twords the end near the train. I like collecting those too. I also collect the blue neck feathers sometimes and put them into three different bags...There is the bag with small neck feathers, med. neck feathers, and large neck feathers. I stopped collecting like I used to though. They just shed so much I don't feel like keeping all the feathers so I used to keep the wing feathers but I rarely keep those anymore...Today I was out in the pen with a bucket just picking up all the feathers in the pen. The white birds are a bit anoying in that their feathers are so noticible. When the others shed you see their feathers but it doesn't look too bad but with the whites their feathers are so bright you definately notice all the white fluff everywhere in the pen. XD One week I will clean up all the feathers and the next there are a bunch out there again.

Ha! Glad it isn't just me that picks up those tiny things!
Do you ever find those tiny feathers from the girls?
I keep admiring their green "tick" feathers but have never found one.
It's like the unicorn of peacock feathers, I think.
