Training cats to leave chickens alone

The bantams are adults, but act like scared babies. Man, I have 3 roosters, I wish ONE of them would work up their courage and chase the cats!!

My chickens don't do that even though they are babies. I speculate its because the cats go into the coop where the birds can't run away.

Yes, and they flap their wings and squawk in panic, evoking predatory instincts from said cat

I wonder if you try holding a kitten while feeding treats? So they are approaching the cat.

Training and trusting are totally different issues! Cats are very smart, they can be trained but don't think they would be trustworthy around birds, especially when you are out of sight.

I think that's true. I think it's really a matter of training the chickens to be confident around the cats.

Hello..I have a Manx Cat and then the free loader from the next acreage over..I have Calls and my Birds raise Chicks out doors and Ducklings. The cats are never an issue.
Kittens learn and it's more in play. One peck from a Chicken stops the silliness quickly.
My Calls Chase the Cat too...

Aren't Manx great! I've had them my whole life. They keep finding me. None right now though sadly.

I did let the ducks out today, and the kitties didn't seem to care. Maybe as long as they are never very hungry, and see the fat, chunky banty hen, everything will work out. LOL.

Only breed of Cat I'll ever own...My Alley is an Orange Female..She lives in my Garage in her heated Cat house and hunts Squirrels, mice and Birds...A great Kitty..
