Training to go in at night?

Ah. It may be linked in that thread though. I think I know which one you are referring to.

Well have hope!
Mine went in by themselves starting the first day but they didn't start roosting on the logs I gave them for another week or so.

Chickens are smart. They know what they need. Maybe they feel a little more secure hunkering down in the shavings because it's more like what they're used to in the brooder. Moving to the big house is a huge change.

Mine seemed to really like the cardboard box they had while they were still in the brooder, so I left that in there with them until they got used to the log roosts.

Fingers crossed they'll at least see themselves in tonight. :fl:pop

So l got home, greeted my doggies, then checked in on my girls. It was 4:30pm and they should have made their way inside for the night. But no. >sigh< Ok. I gave them all a bit of loving pats, the put Eggsmerelda, the smallest, inside the henhouse. Immediately Maryjane (who possibly will be renamed Marvin) ran inside! Cool! Ok now, sweet little Repecca still refuses to climb the ladder, she's a shy little thing but seems to not mind me petting her or picking her up, so I lifted her in next. Nugget, pretty thing that she is, flew(!) up to the outside roost, looked at everyone inside the henhouse, and after a couple of courage building false starts, jumped/flew to the opening and stepped inside. Success!!!...sorta. Well I think I have a plan. Since Pecca needs a bit of help up I'm going to pop her inside first tomorrow if they haven't already gone in. Let's see if the others follow suit. Wish me luck!

That’s what my girls do - use the run roost to fly/jump into the coop. They are bigger than yours of course, so it’s more of a flapping leap. Lol

It sounds like they will get it eventually. Is it dusk at 4:30? It’s dusk a little after 5 here, but I know my girls start to roost around 4:45. By 6 it’s dark. Ugh.
