Training to Nipple Watering

When I first learned about nipple waterers, we made 2, one for the new chicks, one for the hens. The chicks were attracted to it right away, preferring it for drinking. I think they were about 2 weeks old. The hens weren't as open minded, and I couldn't interest them and was reluctant to remove the bowl of water they were fond of. Finally, when the chicks were integrated w them, the hens watched them using the nipples, and didn't want to be left out on whatever this was, and they tried it and were hooked!! They all prefer water nipples and it's the only source now and I have several.
My latest batch were given nipples on day one as their only source.

I noticed a problem that some might have with the red cup waterers. It the lid on the water source is too tight it'l create a suction and prevent water from flowing correctly. It's supposed to be super sensitive to the touch.

Right, you have to make some air holes in the container.
