Training to Nipple Watering

I noticed a problem that some might have with the red cup waterers. It the lid on the water source is too tight it'l create a suction and prevent water from flowing correctly.

This is true for any nipple system, water won't flow if there's a vacuum.

So the nipples work well horizontally and vertically?

There's different types for horizontal and for vertical. I currently use vertical and haven't had leakage as the nipple is super tightly fit into the waterer.

I have 20 vertical nipples and they do not leak a drop. I used the correct size drill bit when installing into the pvc pipe. I have since purchased 40 horizontal nipples that I'm going to start using because "supposedly" they do not freeze during the winter.

They won't freeze, as long as you have a way to keep the water from freezing. I use a five gallon bucket with a 250 watt stock tank deicer. Our son uses the same set up in SE PA and has no problems.
