Training year-old hens (egg eaters) to use new individual nest boxes

I second upping their protein to about 20%. They might be eating eggs 'cause they aren't getting the protein they need. You can also try roll away nest boxes, people have had success with that

I'll give the higher protein feed a shot - thanks!

The coop/run is 8' x 12'.

Is this a totally open area, or is there an enclosed space for roosting?

Woops - posted too quickly. The coop is 8 x 12 - completely open except for the feed and the waterer which are on blocks in the coop. The last few days have seen several eggs successfully laid in the rollout nesting boxes. Still 1-3 laid on coop floor, but for some reason they aren't eating those. Hooray!!
