This is such an interested thread. My girls trill at me with the tone rising at the end, as if they are asking a question, "Do you have any treats for us today? If so, aren't I your favorite girl? Aren't I?"

And I, too, love the soft pigeony noises they make from their roosts when we go out to close down the coop at night. Sweet things.

We have no roo, so I bet we're missing out on all kinds of fancy man talk.

The best kind is when the roo is touring the yard with his favorite girl and their family and he spies something delicious in the grass! He "chuck, chucks" and gets louder and faster until the hens and chicks come running. He looks so pleased with himself then!
