Ok, one of my brahmas has finally gone proper broody after several trial attempts, the problem is that i know for a fact the fertility is low on my own eggs since my favourite boy keeled over with a heart attack (cue tears).
Ive been offered 9 mille fleur eggs from someone near by, they have a broody sitting but dont want anymore chicks and want to break her.
The problem is that its roughly half hour away by car and i need to keep them as warm as possible during the trip.
Can i heat a few hot water bottles to roughly the correct temp and put them in a styrofoam container (large for the journey)? I just dont want them to cool too much and lose any, i would love to add some d`uccles to my flock and the best part is that they are willing to give them me for free!

Are they partially incubated? What day are they on? Actually, you want them to cool down. They go into a dormant state when cooled to about 70°. I've transported eggs before and that method works wonderfully for me.

I think you are overthinking this (which I mean in a good way). Remember mama leaves the nest for up to 60 minutes a day. You're only driving for half of that. Seems to me you should go get them, put them in an egg carton and just head home!

Well it took me closer to 45 minutes to get them home but i put them in egg cartons in a box with a hot water bottle which didnt get them too hot but kept them warm.
The broody has took them without fuss so hopefully she should have some chicks in a few weeks.

Great news!
