Trapped a Neighbor's Dog on My Deck....Got an Earful

Pics
Just now catching up to what is goin on.
It is a pretty sad situation for you.

I would go talk to your county attorney now since the LEO are dragging their feet.
I'm pretty sure that person will not be happy.
This kid has threatened to come on your property with a loaded weapon and shoot your animals because you are defending your own.

Document every time you have spoken to your neighbor about this. If the dog comes back get pictures of him on your property. Keep a camera handy even if it is a disposable one.

Yes, I plan to grab the camera if he comes back. I'm hoping that the warning plus the new fence his owner is putting up will be the end of it. Let's just hope the dog isn't a digger or a climber.

Anyway, peace all. I thought it was someone looking for advice on a forum. So I offered some. All I was saying is that there is nothing I wouldn't do in defense of my home and flock but as a last resort. I have no problem killing if I have no other choice. I am actually quite comfortable with it. I wasn't looking for a full on debate, just offering an opinion. I quit. You folks all have a nice thread and a nice life. I hope you find what you need, now and always. I mean that, its all good. G'night.

Sorry if this sounds rude and disrespectful like "all" kids today are, but as a 15 year old teenager myself I REALLY don't think its fair to say that. Why the heck do people think that "all" kids today are respectful! Sure there are jerks out there, there always will be, but WHY I ask myself, do people always assume that all kids or teens are like this!? Do you think I go around tresspassing on others properties? Or freaking out and swearing at the nieghbour because I don't get along with them! NO! And for your information, not very many will! I am sick of people always assuming this.

I am very sorry that your nieghbour has to be this way, if he won't get rid of the dog, or keep it under control, then YOU do it for him.

X2!!!!!!

The farm I worked on this summer two neighbors dogs killed all but 12 chickens in the whole farms flock to spite electric fencing. The problem is that the farm is on government property so they cannot shoot the dogs. We chased the dogs away several times before the attack but both were aggressive and we were unable to catch them. I suspect my boss killed them and did not tell anyone about it. These were someones "beloved" pets that were running free on a huge road in the city! Its legal in MD to shoot dogs if they attack your livestock but I can't do it here in my neighborhood we are to suburban.

Cyn I say go for it do what you need to do. I agree that if they loved their dog so much they would keep it in their yard. If my dogs attacked someones livestock I would expect them to be shot that is why they stay in my yard! This is coming from someone who is younger then the kid.

I thought the police report was about the threat of him coming on your property with a gun to do harm, not the dog.

I think you are taking that quote a bit too personally. Not to mention that not only are there lots of "kids" out there that will do exactly as you stated, there are plenty who will do worse. Keep in mind that these are people from all over the country and they may actually have a huge problem with the youth in their area. No-one is saying ALL "kids" are like that, but in many areas there are more than enough to justify such a comment.

WOW what a thread you got here! I feel the same as most of the ones here are saying.. I am one of those that if a dog has been in my yard and chasing my flock or livestock and no harm has been done (outside nearly giving them heart failure) I warn the owners next time I wont be so nice... I have dogs too and would not want them to be a problem to any of them... Well sadly came home one day to see that our neighbors blue heeler decided to take out over half my chickens( and they were laying too

which were bringing in small amount of money to cover feed expense. I was so angry I couldnt think straight so hubby went and talked it over and they apologized and the very next day they got rid of her. They knew what was at stake with our loss and in order to keep peace they did the right thing... I did feel bad they had to get rid of her but at the same time I didnt want to lose any more chickens and then have to shoot her....

Farm life is not all Dreamy... its hard work and you have to take the good with all the bad and ugly that goes with it.

Hope in the days ahead peace will be restored for you all and the neighbors and I will be praying for that young man who is obviously troubled at this time.

You no it is sad that you pay for your home and land and feel uneasy on you OWN land!!
I love all animals, but right it right.
This dogs sounds unsolicited and a threat.
What is nexted for this dog? ( it could very well have been a child on your deck that it acted aggressive to or even bit).

You work so hard to keep your home and land nice and your animals where they should be. Than you are aggressive threatened on your own property.
I say do what you have to do!!
It is just a shame that all this can happen on your property (where you where minding you own bussiness)
JUST A SHAME!!
