Trapping predators

Kill them.If you know of hunters that would want the coons offer them up. Possums might be taken by those who do wildlife rehabilitation. The possums might have babes in the pouch,so I like to give them a chance....away from my chickens ofcourse. Silly I know, because once a teen or adult I would not hesitate to dispatch.

Do what you want, but like another poster said it is likely illegal to relocate, and you will be fined if caught.

Another possible option is to talk to a local taxidermist and see if they will take them off your hands. A neighbor that is a taxidermist will sometimes take animals in winter pelt, never in summer pelt.

I like to use a live trap to see what I catch and decide what to do with it. I have been known to release certain things, doves for example, but for many of the reasons given by others, I don’t release a predator alive.

It sounds like your county needs a lesson on the 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution. I have heard of cities restricting firearm use but never entire counties, that said, I do believe those restrictions apply more to sport shooting, target shooting, hunting than to self defense and defense of your property. Concealed and Open Carry is legal in many states for the purpose of self defense, even in cities where it is common to have "no shooting" ordinances, I do believe that same mentality would apply to you killing predators which are after your birds/pets even in your restrictive county. That sounds like a law that wouldn't hold much water in front of a judge anyways.

Check your state AND local laws. In Virginia, it's illegal to relocate but it's okay to shoot a fox or coyote on your own property. Except on Sunday. However, in my county, you can't shoot a firearm on your property unless you have a certain number of acres. We don't have that many acres.

I've got a real Catch 22 going on here. Guess I need to find a friend with enough acres to allow me to shoot a firearm and drag the trapped animal there.

If you trap the fox it IS legal to dispatch it with a firearm on any day of the week If you need a link I will find it

Prince William County in Northern Virginia. We just passed the ordinance to have chickens in certain county regions last year. Thankfully, I fell into one of the regions but I can't legally use a firearm where I am. The relocation and Sunday hunting law comes from the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries website and I believe that's statewide. Here's the link about coyote's: http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/wildlife/problems/coyotes/
