Trapping Roosters and Chickens

The local SPCA would help and would keep an eye on them to make sure they don't continue raising these chickens. I think you are very nice and I thank you for taking such good care of the chickens but you really shouldn't have to deal with this all the time.

Get a dog or borrow someones dog and let it petrol the yard. That should keep them away.

Do these people realize what is happening to thier chickens?
Or do they not care. Have you tried speaking to them?

Most of these people speak Spanish only. They don't understand what is being translated by a school kid well either. I have tried.

If they don't know I am catching their chickens, they must be pretty dumb cause I've been doing it for 6 years. I also caught roughly 10 Feral Cats and turned them over to the Humane Society. If I had waited for them to come out and trap them, it would have taken 3 months for the trapper to show up, so I caught them myself. That way, a truck shows up the next day and empties the cage for you. I was feeding these kittens because they won't. They go get them for their kids then turn their backs. Just like two of their dogs that were in my garbage this morning when I let my dogs out. I love animals, but I can't be dad to them all. I was lucky and was able to domesticate one of the Feral Cats and gave it to some friends who love it to death.

As you can see, it's a losing battle. So I guess I'll build a temporary Chicken Coup. Any suggestions on how to build and effective but fast and inexpensive one?
Maybe I could put it on wheels. That would make it very easy to transport the little guys.

I'm open for suggestions and will try to get a picture of one tonight and post back.

Do you think they would be helpful, cause they are only a phone call away. I would welcome the help.

Other things they aren't allowed to do is build anything closer than three feet from my fence. I have at least half a dozen sheds (ugly sheds) right up to my fence. Some of them have Spanish Graffiti spray painted all over them on my side of course.

We have been planting trees and shrubs, anything that will cover up the ugly. Not only that, but they point these trailers some of the most ungodly colors, like lime green, purely pink etc.

If anyone is interested, I'll post more pics.
Wait a minute, I don't see anywhere to post images. Do I need to put them up on my website for y'all to see them?

Put them on Photobucket and it has away to imbed them within the post.
What is it with the lime green anyway. I have noticed that myself.
Yes if you report them they would come get them, or at least investigate. From what I can see on the net it is only legal in Louisiana, and New Mexico.

They are not fighting them next door or I would hear the racket. I have an idea they might be raising them for that reason though. I mean who needs 4 roosters to service half a dozen chickens?

I doubt there is anyone in the County who cares that these people have birds running all over their neighbors property any more than they care that they are illegal aliens.

i live in louisiana. it will be illegal for cock fighting next year. i don't know why they did not put it into affect sooner. i know we had some elections, don't know if that had anything to do with the delay. but anyway, it will be illegal soon enough in louisiana. thank goodness!

i guess because you live in the country there is no laws that could affect how these people live with all the animals running around? if you make enough complaints to the police jury or other departments they should do something. if that does no good. contact you local tv news station. that is what someone did in a near by town. he had a neighbor that had all these dogs chained up on property next door and they barked all the time. plus the owner would just dumped trash on the property. so the guy made enough complaints to the police jury. they did not seem to move very fast. so he made a call to the local tv station. that got there rear ends moving! they got the dogs seen to and some were treated by a vet for poor condition. i think the man got in trouble that owned the property for letting the dogs get into bad shape too.
and if it is election time they certianly ought to listen to you if they want your vote.

Speedbump,
They may not be actually fighting them there, but if they are raising them for that reason I imagine they might be able to find some corrborating evidence, I.e birds with wounds, some of the the little metal spurs they put on thier feet, ecetera.
Gambling = Ledger books
Firearms and other weapons are common at cockfights, mainly because of the large amounts of cash present. Some of these weapons may be illegal.
Law enforcement officials have documented a strong connection between cockfighting and the distribution of illegal drugs. Drug enforcement agents often learn about animal fighting operations as a result of narcotics investigations.

You shake the right tree and you just might cause these people some severe problems.
Might even get new neighbors.
