I'm really sorry it's back and in the middle of the day, too. Can you lock them in their coop, temporarily? Or will they peck at each other if they're more confined? Can any of your dogs patrol the yard? Is your yard fenced? If your yard isn't fenced and you can't keep your dogs out there loose, could you tie or stake them next to the run temporarily? Any of those options might give you time to either trap it or add a smaller wire over your existing run wire. Good luck with this. Again, I'm really sorry.

At least they'll be safe in their coop for now. That's the most important thing. Good luck with the trapping!

Your husband is a sweetie to go get more wire for the run already.

Thanks...i think i am still in shock...i want to bring them all in my basement!!....my husband and mother tell me that i should not have animals because i cant handle when they die on me like this....i keep picturing how they must have died and fought to live.....now, i'm gonna start crying here....UGH!

I reckon you shouldn't keep any animals when you don't care when they die.

The weasel will keep coming back until the ladder is empty. Set the trap now, don't wire their run first, you'll just force him to find a new way to get in. Kill it firts then rewire the run.

So sorry about your experience! So sad.

When we lost our flock to a predator...we set the live trap that next night

on the assumption that the varmint would return....
hmm.png

and the next morning there he was...a big old coon!
But we spotted foxes nearby that day, as well, so we were never sure which of them did the ugly deed.

My hubby and I took that coon for a drive to the national forest nearby....
Then the next day we caught yet another one!! Gas prices were nearing $4 a gallon...so this one we dispatched .
( did you know that coon is good eatin??

I am wondering, are you using a live trap? If so, what size trap are you using? If you read my prior post, you will get an idea of how small a hole a weasel can get through.

I hope your weasel cannot fit through the holes in your trap..

I use a live trap that is designed for rats.. It is about 16 inches long and about 5 inches high..
