This morning my twin woke up to seeing a skunk eating one of my hens. Something has managed to get into the door inside their coop. I had four hens. Two of them were killed inside the coop, one being dragged down and eaten. The other two somehow managed to get out...thank god. I have no idea how, but they did.
One of them has a bite or cut under her wing. She keeps it up in a way that it looks dislocated..I am not sure if it was whatever got inside or if it was the gate. I was wondering how I would clean that up? Is it safe to use hydrogen peroxide?
They are both very traumatized and I put them back in the coop. I boarded up and fixed their fence so they should be fine, but they are freaking out...Is there anything I can do to calm them down that you know of? I gave them plenty of treats...
Another thing is heat..they are both very warm and I was wondering how I could keep them cool during the nights when they are closed in?
Hopefully someone has some ideas...and sorry for all the problems...Thank you so much for any feedback...
