We are putting our 8, 6 week old chicks in their coop tomorrow. We have them on our screened in porch & they are no longer using a heater at night, just roosting. We live in Scottsville, VA, it’s reasonably warm, mid 60’s at night or warmer. We have travel plans for this weekend. Should I leave them shut in the coop with both windows open, one window open, no windows open (it may get pretty hot during the day), or give them 24 access to the run even though they are so young? We are leaving Friday afternoon & returning Sunday eve. Our run is almost 20 feet. We feel our coop & run are secure. We skirted out 18” w/ hardware cloth all around the perimeter. There are numerous large predators here though.
