Trays or lay flat for lockdown???

i thought it was cool when i saw the pics, its like they were all born in their own little "Wards" or something...idk, i was just sayin'...

The cups sound like a great idea - Has anyone else done this. Would keep the mess in one spot and they would have their own little rooms! Anybody???

Hmmm... putting each egg in a styrofoam cup. I would worry about:

> Would it minimizing air circulation around the egg? Guess you could put holes in the cup. Plus by lockdown, they are pretty well developed already...

> Is their enough room for a large piece of egg shell to be pushed out of the way... and not keep falling back on the chick trying to get out?

Seems like the little fuzzy butts would go from one shell... into a slightly larger "shell" (the cup). I could imagine the cartoon bubble thought going through the chicks mind.. "Man! Another shell?!?" haha.

Cheers!

lol!

So....question....what about Serama chicks? Will they be okay in the cartons?

When there are other larger breeds in the incubator at the same time, would putting the Serama on the wire get dicey?

DON'T FORGET ONE THING.....eggs need air flow around them.

So, out with the styrofoam cups idea. Don't want to compromise the air flow. Think I will stick with the egg carton cut down. I have used a paper one, cut down quite a bit - most of egg is up and out of the cup. I like the idea of keeping the air cell end up like it was in the bator.
