Treat ideas?

Not to go overboard, but I had some vegetables that needed used today or they'd have to go and a pack of chicken. So I threw it all in the crockpot and am planning on pureeing it into a mash for the birds. I don't know if they'll like it or not, but I'd rather it go to them than to waste.

I have 8 chickens. What I have made is chicken breast, sweet potatoes, celery and spinach.

I was thinking of spreading about 1 cup a day on a feeding trough for them and prepackaging and freezing the rest in cup sized servings for them that I can take out occasionally as I want. I don't currently give them treats, just their layer feed. Is this a good plan? Is a cup too much (I don't want to go too little because I want to spread it out so there's no bickering over it). Any suggestions?

I think it sounds good. Let us know how it goes over with the chickens. You could also mix it with their feed to make a gourmet mash.

If it's well cooked, you may not need to puree it, but it won't hurt anything I either.
