'Bird 'n the Fluffy Butts coop in Ohio
MayMay,my favorite hen started to 'sneeze' or 'cough' last week. little bit of a runny nose. Eating fine, pooping fine no fever.

Started talking a lot to me. Two days ago she started sounding like she has larangitis! scratchy voice. Now she is almost wheezing to breath. I started he on VetRx anyway. No good really. I found some brown dirt yeuchy up her nose and cleaned it out. not really any different. Is she getting a cold maybe? She seems to be ' coughing' sometimes a little.

eating great,drinking, etc just fine.

It's funny, almost sounds like allergies! Do they get allergies like 'hay fever'.

Should I just take it day by day or go ahead and start her on something??????

She was pretty sick a few weeks ago. She had gotten into something or other and had really bad diahrea, would not eat, etc. finally got over that. I really thought i was going to loose her.

I have a hen that has allergies. She just started laying in February, then started sneezing/cough. No other symptoms. Then she stopped laying for about 2 weeks. Yesterday she laid an egg. She still sneezes. Poultry society said it was allergies.

How does the Poultry society know it's allergies and not a respiratory problem did they say?
I would really like to know how to tell the difference.

No other symptoms, no fever, no lack of energy, no wheezing. Nothing changed except the laying pause.

Week later and she's still soundinglike she has larangitis. It seems like it's a little hard for her to breath still. Sneezing has slowed down, but she does have a little bit of nasal running. I am wondering if it's not time to treat for something respiratory. Time to do the ol' backyard chicken website search for what to use. Any suggestions ladies and dudes?

The Tylan works very well. I went with the soluble that you just add to the water. Its a bit spendy but much more effective then Duramycin-10.
The Tylan Soluble is 1 teaspoon per Gallon.

You can give the Tylan 50 injectable Orally, 1/2cc for five days or 1/4cc if it's a small bird.
Good luck with her.

just got back from TSC and got Tylan 200. found on here to give orally .23 cc once a day for 7 days. I hope that's correct. I know it's not the Tylan50.
