Treating Diarrhea

Thats what concerns me is she isn't eating and only drinking water when I hold it in front of her and she wont get enough of it if I only put it in the water.

Yuck. This morning I was playing with my Rhode chicks and my sweet runt came up and jumped on my shoulder, then climbed on my head. I thought, aww, how cute! But then....she pooped. :barnie It got on my shorts, my leg and shirt. I told her I should flush her down the toilet :rant....but I just hugged her instead.

Aquarium air line tubing, cut in a 15 inch length will work as a feeding tube when connected to a 35 ml syringe from most feed stores. It costs about $3 at Walmart in the fish supplies. But melt the end that goes into the throat to soften it, so it softens the sharp edges.

I would be comfortable with tube feeding, I practically had to do that to get the med in her. So is the dose for undiluted meds still 3-4 drops, 3x a day? I am getting her to drink at least 4 times a day, but its just 5-6 sips at a time.

How much does she weigh? I would try a small amount of fluid the first time to see if she tolerates it. Then aim for 25-30 ml per pound per day. You can also tube feed KayTee baby bird feed or finely ground chicken feed mixed with that water as she tolerates feeding.
