I have done a LIME treatment on a garden shed many years ago. Trying to prevent insects moving in. I guess it worked. It left a paint like film on the walls. (whitewash). After a while it did start to peel. (more than a couple years). The white would rub off easily to the touch. I used builders lime , same as for masonry cement, and mixed with water to make a paint like liquid.
I would not repeat this in a chicken coop, because the lime would keep getting rubbed off as chickens would rub against it. There would be no harm as a result.
When I need to sanitize my coop, I spray it with Household Laundry Bleach. When it dries, so does the negative effects of the chlorine present in the bleach. (to your chickens)
