Treating lice with epsom salts?

Sorry I haven't got back to you about her. Tried again a few days later with new needle and it was successful. I have since drained ed her twice successfully. The thing I have noticed is the fluid coming out isn't clear yellow like my previous hens. The first syringe is fairly clear but gets progressively more thick with clumps of thick yellow fluid.
I assume these are fatty clumps. Sometimes they are thick enough to block the syringe.
The fluid smells quite strongly a bit like the smell of chicken soup though even less pleasant. I've never smelt it before.
The same hen has a foot problem but I'll post separately about that.
Thank you again.

It sounds more like white blood cells or infection from egg yolk peritonitis. The draining may be giving some temporary relief. Thanks for the update. I usually don’t drain hens when ascites is supected. The one I did choose to drain suddenly developed labored breathing when I noticed her swollen belly. She died about 2 weeks later, and had 5 fluid-filled sacsinside her abdomen. She had not laid eggs in years.
