Friday I received an order of 13 chicks and 4 rouen ducks. Later that day i also picked up 8 three to five week old chicks. These 8 older chicks came with mites. The 8 are living in the jail cell and the youngest are in the brooder, while my other 15 are running but sharing the same coop.
Friday when i found the mites, onmyself of course, i treated the 8 birds with sevin. At this point the 8 had already been in the run and in the coop. Today, two days later i found more mites on myself after leaving the coop.
I plan on making a dust bath with DE, sevin, wood ash and sand. I also bought spray online to treat the roosts.
I am debating using dawn, or dog flea shampoo to treat the coop further.
I have three concerns. I have a lot of birds, this is just one coop, i have seven in another coop, and 24 meat birds in another. I want this process to be as quick and easy as possible. I also want to prevent future out breaks.
This leads me to my next concern, i have a large house and shallow pockets. I cant afford to treat my house. I know for a fact that yesterday my husband got into bed after leaving the coop, much to my protest. I hear cedar oil works well for treating homea. Does anyone know how long mites live without a host?
Lastly, I have baby chicks and ducklings. Whats the most efficient and safe way to treat the coop where they live but is safe?

I am fairly new to chickens and worried that this could be an expensive process, especially if my hpuse is infested. I know that people say they dont live on humans, but I did my research and know otherwise.
Recommendations are appreciated.
