I discovered today that my rooster has mites. I've read several places that talk about using 5% Sevin dust but I had a question. Do I need to throw the eggs away after treatment and if so for how long? Thanks in advance for the help!

No, the eggs are fine. Rinse before using.

I have mites IN my laying area. I just put new straw in day before yesterday and think it may have been in the straw. Used 7 dust last night. Toss eggs?

No toss eggs! Put sevin dust under nesting material, do not "not treat" any part of coop or birds. Just rinse eggs before using!

curious how did you find out rooster had mites?
thanks

Well it was by accident really. He had something tangled on his leg so I picked him up and as I had him on his back taking the string off his leg I noticed the mites then.
