Treating sick turkeys - Warning, contains necropsy pictures!

The minimum effective dose of metronidazole (Api general cure)is 30mg/kg, but I usually give 50mg/kg. This is where have the tablets makes dosing easier.

:) thanks again for all your help. All the turkeys and peacocks are treated now.
And cleaned out the entire stable. Now, tomorrow morning its the chickens turn.
Had to look them up for tonight. So, that they do not go down to the stables.

Again thanks for the helpful information :D

did you give both metronidazole (api general cure) and Safeguard? The API general cure needs to be given orally, not in the water.

im sorry. It seems like im never done asking questions.

I have treated all the turkeys and peacocks with the safeguard
and am now preparing the api general cure.

Is it safe to give it to them right after the deworming?
And can I just mix it with a little water and give it orally by syringe?

For now i just gave them each of their safeguard dosage orally.
Now, im working on preparing their api general cure dosage.
Since, I have powder i need to weight it.

My vet told me to give them both at the same time, so that's what I do. And mixing a pack in water, then giving it by syringe is how I would do it. Do the math, make sure each one gets no less than 30mg per kg five days in a row.

thanks. :). All i have to do now is add some water and pull up the syringes.
Thank you so very much for your help

Good morning Kathy,

Thanks to you all our birds are doing much better. :) no temperature and much animated.
Just their droppings are still very liquid. At times its even clear water with some solid masses.
And huge quantities at that

Well, i will just keep treating them and I should have finally a avian vet coming by next week.

Again thanks Kathy :D
