Treating under wing and feet burns?

I'm a bit freaked out here and need help. My local bird people say "run to the vet!!!" Which just isn't possible for me. I genuinely can't afford it at this exact second in time. I know Giles isn't a chicken, but I'm hoping y'all may be able to help without scaring me to death. I already feel bad enough as it is.

Long story short, Giles (my cockatiel) tried to roast himself on my griddle. He was there for about 15 seconds or so before I got him off. The griddle wasn't fully warmed up, but I ended up with a small blister. He got his feet and under a wing. His feet don't seem to bother him *as* much. But he keeps twitching his wing. I assume that since it was hot enough to burn me, it was hot enough to burn him. He's a bit red, but no blisters. How do I treat him? I don't know what's safe to use on birds and what's not.

Secondary problem: he's got grease spots now. Normally I would bathe him with Dawn and use a hairdryer. But that would make the burns hurt worse. The grease is under his wing, all over what's left of his tail, and on the top of his other wing.

Please help!! He's had a horrible week. I feel terrible. :( He just lost his mate, nearly died after he got out of my house, and now tried to fry himself. What can I do for him?

Oh no! Poor birdy. I wonder if the grease under his wing is what's bugging him most and not the actual burn? Just a thought...hope you can get some experienced answers soon!

On a side note, I'm glad you were able to get him back after he got outside!

The grease is possible. I really can't find anything that looks serious. Granted I'm the only one who's handling him right now so I can't get a fantastic look.

Could you post pictures of the burns?

I can't really find any. His skin is a bit red. I'm HOPING that means it wasn't as serious as I thought.

Can you please post some photos, they would be most helpful.

I would not worry about or even try to get the grease spots off. Grease will not hurt him and will eventually wear off.

As for treatment of burns, photos.

Maybe you could watch him better now that you know that he is like that?

Oh yes. I actually know his behaviors very well. His mate just died and he's a bit wonky right now. He's regulated to his - very large - cage until he settles again. We've gone 10+ years without an accident. Now he's had two in a week. :(

So I managed to wrestle him around to look. I can't find anything under the feathers of his wing. I also don't see grease. But it was for sure against the griddle, and he keeps twitching/pecking at it. He lost about 30 wing feathers from the griddle.

As for his feet, they're definitely red.
the only damage I can find is the top layer of skin peeling. It looks like dead skin maybe?

You can see the grease/burnt feathers really well, though.

Poor guy!

Likely losing that many feathers feels a bit odd to him. He may be trying to adjust the wing and/or preen at any feather shafts that are "prickly"?

For the feet, if they are burned, then I would use Silvadene ointment on those.

I'm really hoping it's the feather loss. Now that I've calmed down (seriously - do NOT ask your local bird keepers. They'll terrify and judge you forever) I can judge things better. He's up and walking again. I'm thinking that he dodged a serious problem yet again. I'll make a run to the store and pick up some ointment just in case, though.

From now on he's a cage bird. He got out a few days ago in a freak accident. Chased him for three hours before he took off for good. Just as the freezing temps were coming in he came back. He was sighted half a mile away from me. Then his mate died. Now he's trying to toast himself. Never had a problem before this week!
