Week 2 of the new girls and started training today. The big girls all come to the "chook chook chook" call. Got some mealworms from the petstore today and started the chook chook game with the 2 week olds. What a ruckus. 10 girls, 4 mealworms and let the chase begin. A few learned quick that the big scary person saying chook chook had another treat. Gave up the chase and came to me for a Snack. Never too early to train them. It has saved me a few times when the girls hop the fence to see the neighbors garden a little too close. I call and the all hop back over to get a treat in the run. Chickens are more than food animals, they are pets, teaching aids for my grandkids and some sanity for me after a long day at the computer screen to watch them run around the yard. They are a treasure for me and I hope they know it.
