Treats? Egg yolk, bugs and grit?

I've been looking at shed kits too. Thinking that I can make needed adjustments like adding nests, perches etc. to the structure as needed. I am not much of a builder either. My DH is a mason and has offered to pour a concrete floor for me though! He's offered to build a henhouse too, but he has to find the time for that - and we don't do projects well together.

How bad is this? I put a radio out next to them when I went to work this morning. They seemed pretty contented with it.

Spoiled rotten chickies I'm raising, me thinks.

LOL--my birds are spoiled, but I haven't yet put a radio out for them!

I'll be looking at sheds this weekend since my babies are outgrowing their brooder at an alarming rate. I wish the premade hen houses weren't so expensive! The least expensive one I've found that would fit all my birds is about $1500, and that doesn't include shipping. YOUCH. Spoiled birds or not, that's a bit too high for me!

Next week I think I'm going to try giving the babies some crickets--today they went onto the grass for the first time and viciously slaughtered a grasshopper.

I hope I can get my camera to do video when I give 'em the crickets. I have a feeling it'll be extremely cute!

I wished the premade ones werent so high either. I THINK we can kind of piece something together, but who knows what it will look like! I am the one picked up a desk that had FREE on it in a drive way and am TRYING to convert that for my henhouse, but only have two. I told my mom, well even if we ruin it trying, we will get ideas of how to do it right next time, desks are a dime a dozen at garage sales.
Chickens arent picky, I just want to make sure and keep the predators out.

I seen some premade ones that are so cute on ebay that are going for about $300, that are made in England, they look cute, but they arent shipping them til the end of summer. Cant wait THAT long! And they are about 6 x 4 for the runs and most are only 30 inches high.

I miss them being lil chicks, but mine are 8 weeks an still run peeping for me when I leave the room. Crazy birds!

I HOPE to get my lil run built/finished this weekend, if it would just stop raining!

Cookinmom, I don't know why the whites aren't fed, too. Everything I've read recommends feeding crumbled yolks. I usually give the whites to my German Shepherd so she doesn't get jealous that the chicks are getting treats!

Well my chicks LOVE crumbled yolks, BUT they will only eat them out of my hand!! I think I'm creating monsters, but I just can't help it. Last night my DH asked if I wanted a sleeping bag to sack out on the porch with them. If I thought it would be comfortable - I would!! One of the RIR's, Junie Bug, just wants to be near me all the time. Is this common? Do they grow out of this? (I hope not). I thought RIR's were a little skittish. I hope they are always so sweet.

Found a shed on sale - FINALLY!! I'll need to make modifcations to it, but atleast now they have someplace to go in a few weeks!!

When I picked my sons up from school today (the last day of school!) I noticed some nice tender clover growing and picked a handful... my babies weren't as thrilled about it as they are about egg yolk, though! It's so cool to see them come over when I come up to the door to their brooder cage and say, "Here chick chick." Today I made them all come to me before I opened my hand--one kept pecking at my freckles like he was thinking, "Okay, come on, I know there's SOMETHING good to eat in here!" LOL!
