I have ten 4-week old pullets. What kind of treats can I start giveing them. Do I need to start supplying grit? if so what should I use for girt. There on concrete, so they do not have acess to dirt.

I want them to get used to me, so i want to hand feed them treats.

thanks

Mine loved scrambled egg, cooked rice, plain yogurt, cooked oatmeal, chopped up tomatoes, unsweetened applesauce....didn't use any grit for the soft foods.
Your little ones will get soooo excited! Have fun!

Our girls are 7 wks old today. We started them on grit from the feed store and I actually sifted it. What can I say, guess I'm just overly protective. Just about anything (that's safe) as long as you provide grit. They go crazy over corn on the cob, grapes (seedless) smashed hard boiled eggs, meal worms, watermelon, yogurt. Oh heck, as long as it's food. Ours all come running anytime they see me. Several of them after their "pig fest" get back in my lap and go to sleep... It's NOT that they love me, it's the food.....

Well I tried pumkin seeds and popcorn today. They couldnt figure out how to eat it, haha. Then I broke the popcorn up and they nibbled on it. What do I need to buy for Girt??? There eating hard stuff so I think I sould get girt.

my pullets are about 4 weeks old now...last week I started giving them red worms. I just rolled them in the dirt first so they would be getting some grit with it....they are also running around the back yard now too so they can pick up their own grit I guess. So funny to watch them chase each other for the worms lol

My three week old pullets go nuts over roots and dirt! I pulled up a mustard plant, leaving the dirt attached, and give it to them. Eight little pullets were all over that root like it was a double chocolate cake or something! They will nibble at the greenery but mostly, they want the fine roots and dirt and any worms and grub eggs they find in there.

I cant wait to give my babies some fun treats. They are just a week old, so Ill be patient. Right now I just put some chick feed on the floor of thier brooder and they ALL come running and scratch and feed like the dont have food in the feeder. They just love to scratch.
