As I type right now I have 10 baby chicks in one arm and typing with 1 hand.Im just wondering what good treats would be for some 2 day old chicks.

yogurt is a good treat that doesn't require grit

good for their digestive system too

I've given mine apples (cut up fine) and lettuce torn in strips. They love it, although they freaked out the first time I put the new plate in there. I have given them a little bowl of parakeet grit twice, about 10 days apart. They clean it right up. It has calcium carbonate in it, so I am afraid of giving them too much.

Hoping to move them into their own coop TOMORROW! Just have to build the roost. After a few days I will let them out and the hens can get a look at them (they've been able to hear them). There will be a fence in between them.

I have 3 week old chicks and was excited about giving them treats. when I emailed the 4-H leader I got them from, she told not to give them any treats until then were 3 months old. Not what I wanted to hear. I have to say that I am very impressed that you can hold chicks and type at the same time, your a good mom

I have been giving mine boiled egg everyday since I brought them home. I gave them cheerios a couple of days later. They are 7 weeks old now and eat broccoli, cottage cheese, mozzarella cheese, strawberries, pears, lettuce .carrots, etc. I have just tried to keep it healthy.I always gave them a little dish of parakeet gravel when they were in the brooder.

Thx for all the tips.I put some chopped boiled duck egg in there and they loved it!I also went looking around the yard and found a big worm.I threw it in there and they went crazy.Im going to probly feed them shredded lettuce from my garden then give some of my home made applesauce.
