My chicks are about 2 weeks old, and so far I haven't found a good treat for them. The other day I gave them a carrot fresh from the garden (greens and all), and all they did was break off a piece of the greens and play "keep-away" with it. Today I gave them a strawberry from the garden and they didn't even touch it!!! Does anyone know a good treat for chicks, hopefully a nutritional one?

MEAL WORMS! Promise, alive or dried, they will LOVE them!

I gave mine dried mealworms..and then I preceded to call for help, as one of the EEs was brave enough to grab one and then preceded to run out of the brooder with a few other chicks chasing her. So you have fair warning if you have not seen chicken football before you will if you give them meal worms.
When my daughter came over today I had to show her we laughed and laughed at the antics of the chicks.
Second time it was funny first time I thought they were going to kill each other over that dang dried worm.

Split grapes, cooked and cooled plain oatmeal, and my chickies all time favorite.... shredded cheese! Make sure your chicks have access to grit when they get treats.

Meal worms? That sounds strange.... but I will definatly try it!! And the chicken football is what my chicks do with the greens of carrot! It's so cute, but it gets me nervous! It does look like they're going to hurt eachother!!!

But I'm exited to try mealworms! Thanks!!! Any other ideas?

I gave our almost 3 week old chicks some shredded cheese, cantalop and grapes yesterday -- they threw the cheese around and then ate a little but LOVED the grapes and cantalope. In fact, they were fighting over the last piece of grape last night - the loudest I've ever heard them! I guess I'm heading to the store today for more grapes today.

I second the meal worms suggestion! Our chicks LOVE them. They play tag with them, take away, and eat them! It has even brought the shy ones over to check out our hands. Now when we open the cage, whether it be to clean the water or food dish, they think its treat time!
