Treats for the cost of running the back porch light....

We put a buspan of water under the back porch light, in the morning there is a smorgasboard.....

Since they free range, I collect them and dole them out so everyone gets a shot at them, lol. Here is one hen checking out the menu.

Hey! That is cool. Do they really heat those hard-shelled things? I wish I could find a way to get something that would eat June (Japaneese) Beetles. Except ducks, I can't have ducks that like water or they fowl (foul) my Koi pond.
 
i have a 500 watt halogen lighting the backyard all night. a pair of well fed bats hang around at night and the bluebirds feast during the day. i like your idea with the pan of water. i don't know what bugs you have there but maybe the were heading to your garden....

Great idea!,.. all I get are bat droppings

The bats around here usually take care of all the beetles/insects.

On warm nights we average 30 bats on the deck at night, the bats are neat the mess they make isn't
