Treats???

You can really do as you wish, of course, but a little extra 'food for thought'...

Treats at such a young age are really unnecessary. In my experience, it doesn't make them "love" you more, rather, it makes them beggars. They become treat-focused instead of you-focused. Which becomes less cute as they get older ;)

Do what you will with that tid bit :) To answer your question: blueberries, tomatoes, melon rind, pumpkin, grapes are all favorites at my house. Start out with very, very small amounts. They don't need the extra acid or sugar in their diets yet and will gobble up everything in front of them.

thanks... i actually really appreciate your advice! i'll keep that in mind and for the time being just keep feeding them their regular food from my hand

Welcome :) There will be plenty of time for them to eat you out of house and home (haha, seriously) when their systems can handle it a little better

what are some safe and fun treats i can give my chicks... they are 16 days old.. and it might sound really funny but i really want them to like me!! so what can i give them and how much and how often..... Thanks in advance!!
I think mine like me best becasue I am the one who gives them treats!

My chick's love worms. I am not sure about digging them out of the yard but we have a worm composting bin so I just dig out a few for them now and then. They also like oats and sunflower seeds. Starting when they were about two weeks old I hand feed them treats as SMALL snacks every day or two until they went outside from sun up to sun down two weeks ago.

They are 3 months old now and are out in the yard all day where they find their own treats. They especially enjoy grass that had gone to seed, dandelions and clover.

Remember that starter/grower feed should be most of their diet and that you need to provide grit if you feed them anything else.

Mine like raw oats out of my hand, won't hardly touch any that hit the ground. Gave them some raisins but won't be feeding them out of my hand after seeing their reaction to throwing a few in the run.Started a chicken riot. You can wet some of their starter in a bowl and most love it also. Plus it's still giving them their starter so it's good for them also.
