Trees to line run?

I was thinking about putting a row of arborvitae around my run, are they safe for chickens? Or are there other evergreens that grow upright that are safe?

I have used arbs before with no problem of the chickens eatting them but they did kill it cause they dug it up. If you are putting them on the outside of the fence I don't think you will have any problem.
