What an enormous comb for a hen! My roosters would be quite jealous.
Some chickens are just special.

Thank you! Yes, she was!Hey there, sorry about Margo. an amazing beautiful bird, and friend.
So sorry about your special girl.
Yes. Preliminary results are pretty devastating. She likely had an acute infection that took her down. However, I also learned she had chronic egg yolk peritonitis, respiratory issues, and Mareks. Poor girl. This is really a game changer for me as a chicken keeper. This flock is now closed, and I may never start a new one in this location. When it comes time for a new flock, I will go about things differently and will likely start with the Livestock Conservancy. So sorry about your special girl.Did you get a necropsy report yet?
Thank you. She was special and provided many great memories! And her death, sadly, is providing helpful information for the rest of her flock.Sorry for your loss...![]()
We had a beautiful purebred Jersey cow. We'd only had her for a year, she was due to calve but it was time for vaccinations. We have her the vaccine and 3 days later she was going downhill fast, vet came and thought it was milk fever but we'd never seen those things with milk fever. We gave her shots, bolus, drenches she was getting worse. I was looking up everything online i didn't find it until the day she died. She died from an allergic reaction to the vaccine. I had presented itself late because my husband gave them vaccines in the back leg. Apparently if you have an allergic reaction in a cow vaccine it will be within 24 hours when given in the neck but will present itself later if given in the back leg.Thank you. Or the vet either apparently. Our Clary died for our lesson too.
