I'm completely captivated by these two hens. Spending way too much time with them! But they are so much fun. They've only been here since July. I think they are settling in and their personalities are really coming through. My chickens don't seem to care but I think my dogs are getting jealous!

MM...that is a gorgeous picture! Calendar worthy! You need to submit it next year.

My girls coop at night. They are good about it, but they also get a treat when they go in. Daisy can jump my 6 foot fence. Usually when she has to lay. But she is a complete drama queen when she has to lay so I keep her in her coop/pen until shes done. If she's not close to laying she won't go anywhere. Annie has never tried to jump any fence. However she still likes to lay her eggs in the chickens nest box. Why she crams herself in there is beyond me.

Tommy NEEDS a girlfriend or three! :D. Bet that will keep him home!

It was so nice out this evening neighbors brought over a pizza & we decided to eat on the deck. I went in to get beers and I guess Daisy hopped the gate and stole a piece of pizza right off someone's plate. She ran back to her yard & hopped the fence with it in her beak. I came back outside in time to see that. But the funniest thing was her running through the yard with every chicken in the flock running after her. She apparently snatched it so fast the guy didn't even realize she was there.

Goronson...mine like BOSS, (black oiled sunflower seeds) and love raisins. They will try anything I offer. Looked like they really enjoyed that pizza.

She actually jumped the fence with that pizza. I thought it was a pretty athletic move. Scared the heck out of my friend. She did realize she was there. I didn't know she hopped the fence. I did see her hop back to her yard with the pizza. My sweet girl is a THEIF! :(

Goronson. ..I like turkey eggs as much as chicken eggs! They have a different consistency. They are heavier. Apparently people who bake love to use them because they are richer. I have a few friends who are serious bakers and I usually save the turkey eggs for them. Exchanging turkey eggs for baked goods is a good deal for someone like me....i don't bake.

Just out of curiosity and for future reference, in a recipe, would 2 chicken eggs= 1 turkey egg? Better believe I'll be baking with them to try it out lol
I have no idea. I'll ask my baker friends. I've never even baked cookies. One of them made a squash souffle and she thought they were amazing. I've made frittatas with them. I figured two would equal about three chicken eggs. I've poached them & made omelets. There is a bakers thread here somewhere. Maybe they would know.
