Owl returned mid morning. Heard the turkeys even while in the house. Blue jays were screaming and I saw it sitting in one of my pecan trees. After research, I'm thinking it's hunting during the day to feed babies. But I don't know. Females are bigger...this thing is huge...might be a girl. I was able to get pretty close to it before it flew to the magnolia. I finally saw it , so we just stared at each other awhile. I tried to explain how squirrel fur had more protein than chicken feathers. Apparently it will eat birds as large as a grouse. No idea what a grouse is. I'll have to look that up too. I left it sitting there...watching...waiting. It a beautiful bird. But I swear it had a smirk on its face...

Yoopergirl...how is your hen?
Aurora....dang they are cute!! Love the coloring.
Cooled down here. Tired of this weather roller coaster. Lots of great green things poking up in the lawn. Birds got a belly full last night on our evening stroll. Wasn't intending to stand around out there so long...it was cool & breezy, but the girls were intensely munching. If they keep this up I may never have to mow!

Sitting out in the out yesterday evening. Daisy on my lap. Neighbor wandered down to see the owl. Who now regularly emerges from the magnolia and sits in a pecan & watches our evening routine. He had his old decrepit lap dog in his lap. Daisy kept staring at it. Dog was snoozing. Daisy reached over & yanked it's tail. It looked over then went back to sleep. Seemed not to care. That was all Daisy needed, she then settled down for her nap. Just an odd little interaction between species. Other birds never paid any attention to it.

Here is our resident owl. Every evening it flies out of the magnolia & hangs out awhile. Then flies off.
