It's 90 now here. I've officially installed the fan in Daisy's pen for the summer. Yes, I know, she's a spoiled girl. But a happy girl! Gosh she loves that fan!

Had to trim a few bushes in front of the house. Of course the girls came to help. Was tossing the trimmings into a pile. At one point the girls waded into the pile & all you could see were their skinny necks & heads sticking up. Didn't have my camera...it was funny looking. They had fun playing around.

Ralphie...you have chickens bigger than some turkeys. A turkey the size of a chicken should be an easy peasy project for ya!! Just make them fun colors!

But the girls have their wading pools & fans. And full shade. It's funny to look out the window & see the flock just standing around in what I call Poop Pond. I've actually expanded to three wading pools. I switched to big terra cotta plant saucers. They are 24 inches diameter. They stay nice & cool & easy to empty & clean. They each hold a couple chickens or one turkey each. Well....the Sussex actually go wading with their turkey moms. Yep....those Sussex still love their turkey moms.

Goodness...new neighbors...she's a vet & he is a turkey hunter. Of course he had to stop & meet the girls. Poor guy almost ran off the road. Took selfies with Daisy. Annie had to check his shoes out. He loved it. He had read that book by Joe Hutto, "Illuminations in the Flatwoods: A Season with the Wild Turkey". I saw the PBS special but had never read the book. He said the book was 100 times better than the movie. So I ordered the book!!
