I like my horses to pick up their feet for me or the farrier.My old mare used to start picking up one or the other as soon as we brought her out to shoe.My farrier would tell her other side or touch the one he was ready to work on and she would lift it.I believe you have to work with each horse in a way thats best for it.
I don't like the head nodding alot.Get ya knocked out fast.Or worse.
The sitting trick is easy.Just stop him before he gets all the way up from laying down.A horse can't really sit like a dog.Hes not made that way.He can pick his self up easier.He does it ever time he lays down.
