I have a 55 gal tank that leaked and I sold everything in it. Now after I drain and dry it what would you say if I used it as a brooder for like a week or 2 till they outgrow it. Think its to small? its 36" long x 2 feet high x 12 inches wide. if that is way to small I will build my own cardboard box brooder again

Thanks today is day 16 so monday my bator comes off the turner. I am so nervous. oops think i peed a little lol.

I think I saw an egg vibrating a lil

I think your aquarium could work, at least in the beginning for whatever hatches out of your 15 eggs in the incubator. If you use it, be sure to put the heat lamp where the chicks can go to another area if they get too warm. Also I would recommend that you use paper towels to line the bottom as they can be more easily changed in an aquarium than some sort of shavings or bedding material. Just keep the bottom clean regularly so droppings and scattered food don't build up.

One more thing, you should make some sort of guards for the inside corners of the aquarium to keep the chicks from piling up in the corners. Chicks trapped by the others in the corner of a square shaped brooder container could get squished, suffocated, or chilled. Making modifications to round the inside corners will help to prevent the piling up of chicks in corners. Think about shaping the inside corners like a car racetrack with curves in the corner turns.

Thanks rooster. I will build something with cardboard boxes to make guards. I always use paper towels to. till they get 5 weeks old. Then they go on shavings. They eat paper towels when they get older

Sounds good to me! My Polish chicks are in a bird cage that is 4 feet by 18 by 18 inches. They can see us watch tv from the guest room, and we can see the silly things they do. They don't walk, they run-jump, run-jump. They are so cute with those real tall crew cuts.

Make sure to disinfect it thoroughly!
