So. I'll make a long story short as I can...our fave hen (1yo) was looking 'off' over a week ago. She stopped eating and drinking.
I have: wormed, checked for stuck eggs (with a gloved lubed finger), used clotrimazole cream, syringed olive oil into her to flush any impactions, treated for coxi, put her on a course of baytril, and isolated her. I have been syringe feeding her daily fruit/veggie puree/egg puree/grain puree and water. Her crop is empty in the morning, I fill it with anywhere between 15-30 mL of water/puree per feeding. She sleeps 24 hours a day unless feeding. She is perched under a heat lamp, not weak or lying down, but the sleeping is almost narcoleptic. What have I missed? I did all those treaatments at different times btw, sensibly....the syringe feeding is going well, ish, but she isnt showing any signs of improvement, at all. So, where do I go from here? Getting frustrated...

Is her abdomen swollen/balloon-like and what is her poo like?

Any mites/lice and have you sprayed your coop for red mites lately?

Has she been eating out of the compost bin or anything moldy?

No to all of those :( Poop has been off, was really stinky at first but is looking normal now; brown poop with the viscous clear liquid (gross, sorry). I regularly check for lice/mites/etc. She is in a coop of 30 birds, everyone else is 100%.

I am sorry I don't know how to help. I read somewhere on internet brown runny droppings may be E. Coli (but remember there are normal caecal poos that can be strange colors and are of course runny, every 8th poo or so). So I mean brown runny droppings all the time.

But you have treated with an antibiotic, so I would think she would be better???

I hope your girl improves soon.

Please, anyone else? More ideas? *bump*
Thanks chickensaresweet ;)
