Yes, all my full sized chickens are SFH’s. His color is Black Snöleopard. Many BYM’s have similar colors because the breed is a landrace breed and has no set colors. The only real constant is that they always have speckles(flowers).
Oh yeah, I know - I have Shetlands which are also a landrace and come in different colours and patterns. I was just curious as like I say, quite a few people keep SFH in my area so there's a decent chance he was at least partly SFH.

Thyme is a lovely looking boy!

The rocks are attached to the earth...
It's a lot of work digging up those rocks/boulders... our soil is full of them. Had to soak places in the yard to shovel out rocks... sometimes really stubborn but I had to level out soil somehow to lay paver stones in front & back yards.

I didn't have the heart to throw away some of the smaller rocks in a pile... I'll find use for them somehow.

Backyard paver stones... surprising how much more time the hens like standing on pavers rather than standing in dirt.

“Hello Dave, what are you doing Dave?”

Had an escapee - onto my neighbour’s side, had a devil of a time getting her back here!

Look very close on the other side of the safety fencing…. Beside Petra…
Now that they can see better, more opportunity for ADVENTURE (or trouble😁)

Neighbouring land and not my photo but it's dark here now and this is close enough.

But I'm not actually looking for planting or building advice so going to leave it now (not that I don't appreciate folk trying to help :))
Beautiful property... would love to see more of your countryside 💕

Oh, we're a chatty advice bunch... some we can use... some we can't. I like to hear advice even if I toss it out the window 🪟 ... never know though. My property is tiny compared to folks in rural areas so my circumstances are different.

Show what you finish with... although gardening & chickeneering is never done. I'd love to see how you work out using Nestera... wish more plastic coop options were available decades ago when we were looking for non-wood coops.

Our first coop was wood & OSB board custom-built by a feed store customer. We had to keep it covered in tarp both summer & winter for 4 yrs! Wonderful workable construction design 4'x6' but poor building materials.

Next we looked for more durable, cleaner coop options, but the only plastic coop large enough at the time were Omlet coops & the largest was only the Eglu Cube model which was also not tall enough for us. Too pricey for our budget at the time. They have a much better Eglu Pro nowadays.

This is the smaller Eglu Cube we culdn't afford.

So we opted for a Tuff Shed type coop not made out of wood. We all have to do what fits our property needs.

There were a lot of cracks & leaks from final assembly so we finally had to build a patio roof over it for protection from drafts, hot sun, & rain leaks!

The bantams are starting to all flock together more and more and Pebble is finally beginning to act like a good Roo and look after everyone.

Thyme and all the SFH’s are doing so well. They stick together but don’t harm their pint sized counterparts. I am happy with this outcome and the relative peace of the two sub groups.

That is such good news... after yrs w/ chickens in our backyard I totally agree that certain standard breeds are better temperaments to have around bantams. Mr roo looks glorious!
