Tried feeding wild fish today

Its hard to tell from the pics, but the hook did have a little bit of a rusty color to it. I'm sure the little fellow will be glad to be rid of it.

On a local aquarium club forum I'm a member of one of the guys said he's caught a northern that had a hook protruding from the anus. I wonder if it was a swallowed hook or from eating a fish with a hook, like this fellow. I'm not sure which would be worse, mouth or anus.

gypsyfarm123, regarding the baiting the area, you might want to check your states fishing regulations. It might not be legal. If nothing else, its good to know that fish (at least sunfish and large mouth bass) have good senses of smell.

My kids like to take cherries to the lake as a snack. They eat the cherries, then spit the pits in the water at the end of the dock. The fish always swarm to nibble the bits of cherry off the pits! Good entertainment.

Omg! I guess he is a lucky little fish since it looks like the hook only penetrated his lip and you're right, it does look rusty now that I've took a closer look..And thanks for the heads up on baiting.. Fishing is one of my favorite pastimes,I'd hate to lose my license for something stupid. I normally fresh water fish, but last year I went out on one of them charter boats and caught a 40 plus inch striper. When I pulled the hook out and threw it back I thought the rest of the crew was going to throw ME over board! I eat fish, just not ones I've caught. I don't know why..I figure ~you've let me catch you and pose for a pic, then you deserve to live. IDK,I'm weird like that
