» Tried making my own candler- Didn't work-Any suggestions??

Coincidentally I just completed a second one last night and started a third one this morning. I am toying with design but so far each one has worked really great.
The first one I made using a 1"X6" cedar board. I cut out and assembled an 8" long rectangular box and then added a top to it. I drilled a 7/8" diameter hole in the top for the egg to rest on. I then assembled a ceramic light socket to a metal electrical box and a lamp cord. I installed a 45 watt spot light in the fixture.
With the darkest colored egg I could find I tested it. The egg illuminated like a christmas light. There was absolutely no mistaking anything within the egg.
The second one I made using 3" black PVC pipe rather than the cedar board. I then installed a 35 watt spot light in it. Same results. Works great. I like the fact that it is hands free. Simply place the egg in the hole on top of the fixture and observe.
I will make an attempt to post some pics along with instructions in the near future.

So the trick is to use a spot light?? Hmmm

Well I may not need to worry about it as I asked my father-in-law who collects everything and sure enough he's got an old projector (maybe even two, lol) so I will try that also.

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions.
