Our rooster gave one of out hens a inch gash while breeding. We took her to the vet and he stitched her up. We decided to trim the roosters spurs before we put her back out in the yard. We trimmed them this morning, about a quarter inch off of a 1/2 inch spur. It was the first time. They won't stop bleeding. We used "wound seal" powder and that seemed to stop it, and we put him back in the yard. Now it's bleeding again. Not the steady drip it was, but still enough to leave drip marks all around and on his feet. Any advise is welcomed and appreciated. Thank you.

I would try some flour, but the blood stop powder should work. Bring him in with a cage, and put him on an old towel to make sure he doesn't bleed too much. I've had 2 roosters this year with very long spurs break them completely off and they didn't bleed that much.

I've never used wound seal powder, but I always use corn starch. As was suggested above, I recommend keeping him in until the bleeding is done.
