This girl seems to not be able to see very well. When in the yard she just sits in the grass and spooks very easily. I don’t want to trim all of her crest off but I don’t plan on showing her. At least not now. I’ve never shown before and don’t know how to get into it. But I’m wondering if I should trim her crest feathers a bit. To make life easier for her.

I was wondering if trimming her feathers according to this would work?

We regularly trim our Silkies that have lots of feathers around the eyes so they can see better. Some of them have been getting regular "trims" since they were chicks, so they stand on a table and patiently wait until my bf is done with their "haircuts" as he calls them. Once trimmed, they're back on their way - takes about a minute or two per bird.

FWIW, he uses clippers designed for beard and neck trimming that are about 1" wide with a guard that adjusts down to about 1/8" length. The birds look great, they can clearly see better, and we think they look awesome.
