Trimming Crests

Oh yay!! Thanks!!! I am going to give her a little trim tonight. I feel so bad for her, although her crest is beautiful! It did get a bit messy with a watermellon a few days ago!!! She looked kind of like a pink crested black polish, now just a dirt crested! It was sticky and dirt stuck to it. Poor poor girl!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to take some pics for me!!
And thank you Silkhope for the ponytail pics!!!! I was wondering what that looked like too

I'm glad to see this post. My buff polish can't see at all bless their little hearts they hol their head up and back to peep at me. I'll be trimming this evening.

Thanks for the pics!
Two of us did some trimming last night and one did bleed a little! was above the nostrils a little ways....maybe their head slopes up and back? I should have remembered from when they were chicks! But they are all ok and can see now....much better for their safety!

I just trim the fluff away from their eyes with surgical scissors. They are the type of shears that have rounded points. If the feather shaft is dark colored and it is near the time they are molting...beware as it might still have blood in the feather and it will bleed.

I gave my Lauren a little trim today. She was sooo good! I trimmed around her eyes and those feathers that come out infront of the nostrils. She just closed her little eyes and let me cut her hair! I held her in one hand and trimmed with the other. I used a pair of rounded childrens scissors. She still has a big poof, but all around her eyes is clear now.
