We took our four girls out for a field trip today! Our two Barred Rock girls, "Betty and Wilma", and my two RIR Bantams, (as yet un-named). They spent quite a while in the coop before coming out to play. They are enjoying the sun and being able to scratch around! I will bring them in tonight, it is supposed to freeze, but wanted to get them acclimated. They ate their first worm!

Very happy pecking around. 6 weeks old. I think the Barred Rocks would do fine outside, they are fully feathered, but the Banties aren't quite ready for the cold temps, (heads aren't quite done feathering in and some downy spots elsewhere as well). I suppose they might be just fine but I don't want to press my luck. I thought splitting them up might not be good so I'll wait until the banties are ready before moving them all outside permanently.
